Though Cairo’s street protests seemed mainly aimed at Mubarak regime icons like police stations and party headquarters, would-be looters managed to attack the famed Egyptian Museum on Saturday as well, ripping the heads off two mummies before being apprehended. The two culprits also caused damage to about 10 small artifacts, Egypt’s antiquities chief said, before they were escorted out. The museum, which houses many world treasures, is now under military guard.
