Authorities have evacuated more than 100,000 people across five states in parts of northern Malaysia following the nation’s worst monsoon in decades. Prime Minister Najib Razak said it’s been difficult to rescue people and send food supplies amid the extreme conditions caused by Malaysia’s highest amount of rainfall since 1971. The seasonal northeast monsoon hit Malaysia harder than usual this year, causing mass flooding and forcing authorities to rescue nearly 100 people from a resort in a Malaysian national park on Tuesday. The flooding coincides with the 10th anniversary of the disastrous 2004 Boxing Day tsunami that devastated northwest Malaysia.
