Malcolm McLaren, the manager of the Sex Pistols who once claimed he invented punk rock, has died at the age of 64. The Brit started the Sex Pistols in London after returning from New York, where he briefly managed the New York Dolls. He orchestrated some of the Sex Pistols' most successful stunts, like having the band sign its contract with A&M Records outside Buckingham Palace and organizing a performance of “God Save the Queen” on a boat that floated down the Thames. McLaren also released albums as a solo artist like Duck Rock in 1983 and Waltz Darling in 1989.
