A man who escaped from prison in Georga in 1968 was arrested in Connecticut after spending nearly 50 years on the lam. The 71-year-old robbery convict was living under an alias for most of his post-escape life and will likely be extradited to Georgia, officials say. Robert Stackowitz was charged with fugitive from justice for fleeing, the Hartford Courant reported. He was initially sentenced to 17 years in prison but only served a few months before his escape. Stackowitz’s cold case was reopened about five months ago, which led to his arrest by U.S. Marshals.
