French prosecutors charged a Moroccan man Tuesday for last week’s attack on a high-speed train, which officials say was “targeted and premeditated.” Ayoub El-Khazzani, 25, was charged with attempted murder, attempted mass murder, and membership in a terrorist organization, officials said. Earlier Tuesday, Paris prosecutor Francois Molins told reporters El-Khazzani had watched a jihadi video on his cellphone minutes before he opened fire with an AK-47 on a Thalys train and was tackled by three Americans. El-Khazzani, who claimed to be homeless and only planned to rob passengers, used a first-class ticket and refused to take an earlier train with seats available, Molins said. The suspect boarded the train carrying an assault rifle, 270 rounds of ammunition, a pistol, a box-cutter, and a bottle of gasoline, Molins said.
