Neil Bucken's little sister said that all she wanted for Christmas, and her 11-year-old birthday, was her brother. But Bucken, a native of Staten Island, is stationed in Afganistan for two years—so he arranged to have a 7-foot replica of himself carved in ice and sent to his family in his absence. The ice sculpture vendor, Vincent Nuzzolese, said a statue of such grandeur would usually cost around $1,000, but in honor of Bucken's service overseas, he donated the 800-pound sculpture, free of charge. "It's a special Christmas for us on this end, too, that we could help somebody else like this," Nuzzolese said.
