Dr. Richard Sarca, one of the 10 people treated for the Ebola virus in the United States, announced he is heading back to West Africa to continue working with the medical mission where he contracted the deadly virus. “I’m not hearing a lot of pushback from home,” Sarca said. “I’ve been working there for years, and my risk at this point is no different than it was before because I’m immune to Ebola.” Sarca, who has worked in Liberia for 20 years, spent weeks undergoing treatment at a Nebraska facility before being cleared of Ebola on Sept. 25. Once someone is cured of Ebola, which has no vaccine, they become immune to the virus.
