Is New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg above the law? A year strong-arming the City Council to approve a measure that allowed him to take a third four-year term, Bloomberg says he supports a ballot measure to return to the old two-term limit. Last year he argued that he needed to stay in office to help the city through the economic crisis. At the time, critics attacked him for not opening the question to a public referendum, instead going through the City Council. Next Tuesday voters will get their chance to weigh in on the issue—though Bloomberg, of course, is already safely ensconced in his third term.
