Well, this isn’t going to ease fears that the Cold War rages on: Russian President Dmitri Medvedev gave top government honors to the Russian agents deported by the U.S. this summer. The president’s spokesman would not confirm what awards were given out, or if all 10 “spies” were awarded. When the agents were deported as part of a prisoner exchange, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said “traitors always meet bad ends.” But Putin, a former KGB agent himself, later had a change of heart, admitting in July that he sang patriotic songs with them when he met them in Moscow. As for the agents themselves, only Anna Chapman, who has earned tabloid celebrity status, has remained in the public eye.
