Come summer, Matt Lauer will have a new co-host on NBC's hit morning program, Today: Newsreader Ann Curry will succeed his co-host Meredith Vieira, who has announced that she is leaving the show in June. Vieira took the place of Katie Couric in 2006, and Today has since climbed to lead the ranks as the top-rated morning news program for more than 800 weeks. In the last year alone, Today has pulled in half a billion dollars in ad revenue for NBC's weekday morning hours. Vieira has been considering her departure for a while now, but finally announced she would make her exit in June this week and said her reasons for leaving were personal and family-related. Vieira fans need not be saddened by her Today show departure: You can still catch her on her syndicated game show, Who Wants to Be a Millioanaire, and keep your eyes peeled for the release of her upcoming first movie, Return, about a female soldier's return from war.
