Three dismembered bodies were discovered outside a Mexican city where locals reported at least 10 people missing when gunmen took control earlier this month, police said Thursday. The bodies were found wrapped in blankets near Chilapa in the embattled Guerrero state, the same city that was occupied by armed vigilantes from May 9 to 14. It was not clear if the three bodies were some of the men reported missing. Federal investigators are looking into the incident after residents told police the gunmen overtook the city and claimed to be community police who came to end violence between rival drug gangs. Local families said the gunmen, who disarmed police and forced the police chief out, kidnapped men before they returned the weapons and left.
