Don’t count Michael Steele out: The embattled and gaffe-prone RNC chairman has announced his plans for re-election, according to RNC members who were part of a private conference call this evening. Though Steele has been criticized by many—including a good portion of his base—his tenure has seen Republicans pick up 63 House seats and make serious gains in the Senate as well. Several challengers have already indicated their candidacy, including former Missouri party Chairwoman Ann Wagner.
