Somebody’s happy with their straw poll results: Mike Pence, an Indiana Republican who ranks near the top of the GOP’s House leadership, is considering stepping down in order to position himself for a 2012 run for president or governor, according to Politico. Pence, who was the top pick at last month’s Value Voter Summit’s straw poll for president, believes he shouldn’t stay in the House if he has other goals in mind, a source close to him says. He’s currently embarking on a bus tour across Indiana, strengthening his ties to the state’s establishment. A spokesman says the congressman’s "sole focus remains on winning back the majority in Congress."
