Rarely viewed works by Monet are now on display at Helly Nahmad's gallery on Cork Street, which Financial Times critic Jackie Wullschlager describes as “the most beautiful exhibition in London.” The show provides an intimate peek at canvases that have been kept under wraps for a century in privately held collections or by Monet's own family. In the mini-retrospective, Monet grapples with how to represent light, or rather the sensation of light. "Monet changed forever how we look, broadening our range of vision in a way that was both optimistic and democratic," Wullschlager writes. A visit to the show will refresh one's appreciation for impressionism, its radical brushwork, and the genre’s departure from pictorial expectations.
