Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour is singing a different tune now: He announced on Sunday night that oil has hit the shores of Mississippi and pleaded for federal aid. “The amount of oil moving into Mississippi waters has greatly increased in the last several days,” he said. “We continue to press the Federal Unified Command and BP to increase the amount of resources available to attack the oil.” In case you’ve forgotten, this is the same Barbour who has criticized BP’s $20 billion reimbursements fund, deployed only 58 out of 6,000 national guardsmen in Mississippi, and said the press coverage of the oil spill is more damaging to Mississippi than the spill itself.
