Alleged Serbian genocidaire Ratko Mladic is one step closer to justice. A plane carrying the former general arrived in Rotterdam, the large city adjacent to The Hague, just hours after Serbian judges rejected his lawyer’s claim that Mladic was physically and mentally unfit to be extradited. He will appear before a U.N. judge within a few days at a court established to deal with war crimes in the former Yugoslavia, where he’s accused of war crimes and genocide, among other charges. Mladic was allegedly in charge of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre, in which more than 8,000 civilians were killed. He was briefly allowed out of jail before extradition to visit the grave of his daughter, who committed suicide in 1994. He had avoided visiting her grave in an attempt to evade detection.
