The New York Yankees' brand-new closing pitcher and four-time All-Star Aroldis Chapman has been suspended for 30 games under Major League Baseball's anti-domestic violence policy. Chapman will not appeal the ruling, as part of negotiations between the hurler and the MLB. Although he was never charged for a crime—after police said he fired eight shots into a wall after fighting with his girlfriend, Cristina Barnea, in October—the league is allowed to punished players regardless of conviction. Chapman will be allowed to continue playing in spring training but will have to ride the bench once the regular season begins.
