At least 27 civilians were killed in a regime bombardment of Aleppo on Saturday, as the White House condemned Syria and Russia for continuing to target hospitals and areas filled with civilians. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said regime forces had targeted the rebel-held side of Aleppo on Saturday using air strikes, barrel bombs and artillery fire. “There's barely a neighborhood that has been spared in the east,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the monitoring group. The new deaths brought the death toll for the past five days to 92, as the regime continues its onslaught against opposition-controlled parts of the city. The new fatalities came as U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice condemned the “heinous” bombings of hospitals in the area. “The Syrian regime and its allies, Russia in particular, bears responsibility for the immediate and long term consequences these actions have caused in Syria and beyond,” she said.
