As a debate in Sweden rages over asylum seekers from the Middle East, an arsonist set fire to a mosque on Christmas Day. The fire took place in the town of Eskilstuna while 15 to 20 people were inside the mosque at midday prayers. “A witness saw somebody throw an object through the window of the building, which serves as a mosque, after which a violent fire began,” a police spokesman said. At least five people were taken to hospitals for injuries. Eskilstuna has a large immigrant population and has seen clashes involving neo-Nazi groups that oppose Sweden’s immigration policy.
