A new ABC News/Washington Post poll found that a majority of Americans favor gun control measures such as banning assault weapons and expanding background checks for those who buy weapons and ammunition. Support for banning high-capacity ammunition magazines is at a new high, with 65 percent in favor, and 51 percent agree with the NRA's suggestion of armed guards in schools, though more people view the group's leadership unfavorably.
