Alaska’s governor has certified Senator Lisa Murkowski as the winner of November’s contested election. She beat her rival who was challenging the results, Republican Joe Miller, by 10,000 votes. The certificate will now be hand-delivered to Washington so that Murkowski can be sworn in with her colleagues on Wednesday. She’s the first U.S. Senate candidate to win a write-in campaign since Strom Thurmond in 1954.
