A Muslim advocacy group in Washington, D.C. was evacuated on Thursday after receiving an envelope containing white powder and a written threat. A spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which tracks discrimination against Muslims in the United States, said the group receives hate mail on a daily basis, but the volume of threats has increased lately in the wake of the attacks in Paris and San Bernardino. Preliminary results showed the substance did not appear to be dangerous, authorities said.
