After serving five years as the president of the NAACP, Benjamin Todd Jealous is stepping down from the position. Jealous, who will stay on until Dec. 31, said he was leaving because he wanted to spend more time with his family. At the age of 35, Jealous became the youngest president of the NAACP and helped grow the organization by expanding its donor base and revenue stream. Jealous is in talks with several Washington, D.C., area schools about teaching positions and plans to raise money to create a fund to promote black participation in politics. He is expected to make a formal announcement of his plans to his staff on Monday.
