Bar fight at MacLaren’s? Neil Patrick Harris, star of the hit CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother, was not in high spirits Friday. The Emmy-nominated actor took to Twitter to blast The Young and the Restless’ longtime star Eric Braeden, who was allegedly slated to appear on the show as Robin’s (played by Cobie Smulders) father. “Eric Braeden is a D-Bag. The actor… agreed to a cameo, then last night bailed, saying the part wasn't 'substantial' enough,” Harris tweeted. The actor later tweeted again about Braeden to clarify. “Now I feel bad for the D-bag comment. Don't know the guy personally. I'm just fiercely protective of our show,” he explained. Braeden exclusively defended himself to Entertainment Weekly, explaining he'd just had hip surgery and doubled his workload. "I really don’t know who that fellow is,” the soap star allegedly said with a laugh. "It seems to me like a young whippersnapper, having seen himself on a few covers, who’s received a few awards, is now suddenly suffering from the first signs of hubris.” Braeden said he enjoyed working on the series in the past, but said that due to exhaustion, "I was not about appear on a show for two lines, because that’s what it amounted to." Ray Wise, who’s best known for his role on Twin Peaks, replaced Braeden.
