Longtime NBC Sports executive Don Ohlmeyer has died at the age of 72, his friends and family announced Sunday. Ohlmeyer was an early Monday Night Football producer in the ’70s and is credited with invented the phrase “Must-See TV” for NBC. He won a total of 16 Emmys during his career, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. Infamously, Ohlmeyer was reportedly behind the firing of Saturday Night Live star Norm Macdonald and writer Jim Downey, for making too many jokes about O.J. Simpson, a longtime Ohlmeyer friend, during the former football star’s double-murder trial.
