Herb Ritts made a name for himself in the 1980s and 1990s, photographing some of the world's biggest celebrities and supermodels -- among them Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Madonna, and Julia Roberts. In 1994, Ritts shot an editorial for Vogue featuring Amber Valletta, Bridget Hall, and a young Kate Moss. This month, Line Magazine has published behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot for the first time.
Francesca Tolot, longtime make-up artist and current Beauty Director for Line discovered the behind-the-scenes photos she took from the set of Ritts's legendary 1994 Vogue shoot entitled "Sheer and Shine." Among the images (presented in Line's "Story of the Month") are topless photos of a young Moss, the models playfully rolling in the sand, and shots of Ritts in his element.
"Young Kate was fun, funny, full of life, confident, entertaining, and very professional. She had gorgeous skin and I loved her freckles," Tolot told the magazine of Moss. "Modeling came very naturally for her. I knew the moment we began shooting that Kate had all the characteristics to become the icon she is today." [Line Magazine]
