Two people were killed in Yemen Wednesday in the fourth straight day of protests against President Ali Abdullah Saleh. While Saleh has managed to stifle some protests in the small, impoverished nation, hundreds of protesters returned to the streets Wednesday, clashing with police and government supporters and demanding an end to corruption and oppression. Like many Arab countries, Yemen saw demonstrations inspired by Tunisia and Egypt, but Saleh’s quick concessions drove numbers down from a peak in the thousands. Nonetheless, some analysts say the protesters are becoming more strident and may soon be able to gather enough momentum to threaten Saleh’s regime.
