In an attempt to rehabilitate the nation after a violent uprising that followed the ouster of its president, Tunisia’s acting prime minister announced a new unity government today, promising to include opposition leaders and stabilize the nation. But some aren’t buying it. At least one union leader today said the new coalition wouldn’t suffice, and predicted continued street demonstrations. Already, Tunisia’s government says, more than 78 rioters and civilians have died from the unrest. Economic damage from the revolt is estimated at $2 billion.
