Few insults are worse for a conservative politician than being called liberal. Newt Gingrich has been lobbed this low blow not once, but twice in the past two days. First conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Gingrich "sounds like Elizabeth Warren," the former special advisor for Obama's Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and current Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate. Then, Mitt Romney sent out a press release tying Gingrich to the AFL-CIO. Romney notes AFL-CIO head Richard Trumka's comments on MSNBC that, "I agree with some of the things that Newt Gingrich says, not a lot, but some of them," and that he thinks attacks on Romney's career at Bain are "fair game."
