Presumably in an effort to shrug off his rival's endorsement from Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich is now taking the populist route. The former speaker highlighted the differences between himself and Mitt Romney at Xtreme Manufacturing in Las Vegas today: "Let me just say first of all that I like hiring people." Romney, of course, has a well-known penchant for handing out pink slips. Also, while Romney is satisfied with the poor's safety net, Newt thinks that "what the poor need is a trampoline so they can spring up." Gingrich's advocacy of the working man has been deliberately used to differentiate himself from Romney since he criticized the former Massachusetts governor for ruthless business tactics at Bain Capital.
