The NFL has agreed to pay $765 million to 4,500 plaintiffs who sued the league, claiming that the NFL hid the truth about the high risk of concussions for football players. The problem of concussions in football drew national attention in the past several years after at least six former NFL players committed suicide post-career and others complained of dementia and depression resulting from their on-field injuries. The NFL's payout will give about $170,000 per player involved to cover medical examinations, treatment, and other concussion-related costs.
