Both Nintendo and Sony unveiled 3D gaming devices at E3, the annual gaming expo. Nintendo’s new handheld device, the 3DS, creates the perception of depth without requiring glasses, will be able to play 3D movies and take 3D photos in addition to running 3D games; however, the effect only works as long as “the device is placed directly in front of the eyes,” according to The New York Times. Meanwhile, Sony announced that it will make the Playstation 3 compatible with its 3D televisions and that 20 3D Playstation 3 games will be available by March.
