Vermont is declining to seek charges against a teenager who shot his father. Kryn Miner was shot in his home in Essex Junction on April 26 after he pointed a gun at his wife and one of his children and threatened to kill his whole family. Miner, 44, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and his traumatic brain injuries may have factored into his belligerent behavior. The father of four reportedly took a .360 handgun and said “I'm going to kill you all” before throwing it at his son and saying “Do you want to play the gun game.” Miner turned to remove a loaded 9 mm handgun and his son proceeded to shoot him six times. Explaining why the state will not press charges, Chittenden County State's Attorney T.J. Donovan said "The teenager reasonably believed the siblings and mother were all in imminent danger of being killed or suffering great bodily harm.”
