The New Orleans City Council voted 6-1 on Thursday to remove a statue of Robert E. Lee in Lee Circle as well as three other Confederate statues in the city. "We, the people of New Orleans, have the power and we have the right to correct these historical wrongs," Mayor Mitch Landrieu said on Thursday after months of heated discussions about the statues.
