Netflix earned praise this week for offering employees up to a year of parental leave, but the offer does not extend to the company’s DVD workers. The Huffington Post confirmed with a spokeswoman that Netflix’s DVD workers are not covered by the new policy. “Streaming and DVD are totally separate parts of our business with different staff, support, etc. We report revenue, net income, etc. separately for each quarterly,” spokeswoman Anne Marie Squeo said by way of explanation. The company employs 261 part-time and temporary employees, most of whom work on the DVD side. They are offered one month of fully-paid leave and a longer-term leave of absence for partial pay.
