The National Rifle Association may have systemically broken federal election laws by funneling organization donations into its political action committee (PAC), according to a Yahoo News report published Tuesday. The report found donations allegedly ended up in the NRA's Political Victory Fund, violating state and federal anti-fraud laws designed to protect donors from misleading solicitations and fake charities. The Federal Election Campaign Act requires groups to disclose when they are soliciting for electoral purposes or if their connected PAC is the intended beneficiary of a donation. The NRA also appears to be violating laws that ban soliciting from the general public through its website as well as soliciting for a connected PAC from anyone other than the group's employees or members.
