Nude painting of Madonna and Guy Ritchie sells at auction

An oil painting by Scottish artist Peter Howson depicting Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie in the nude was purchased by an anonymous buyer, McTear's Auctioneers in Glasgow reports. In the painting—part of a series by Howson—the singer is reclining, with movie director Ritchie’s hand holding her thigh. The painting was up for auction last month but didn’t sell, after failing to meet its reserve price of £15,000. A spokesperson for McTear’s commented: “We were very confident we would find the right buyer for ‘Madonna and Guy’ and we are delighted to have secured such an excellent price for the painting.” Although McTear’s couldn’t reveal more about the mystery buyer, they confirmed that the painting would be leaving Scotland.
