Capitalizing on Roman Polanski's recent legal troubles, Christie's will be auctioning a nude portrait of the director and his late wife, actress Sharon Tate. The oversize print was taken in 1969 by David Bailey, and produced in 1988 for a traveling photography exhibit. The print's owner remains anonymous, but a similar image fetched about $17,000 in 2006. Experts predict the current photo will draw in $8,000 to $12,000 when it goes on sale December 7 in New York. Tate was murdered by members of the Manson cult, and Polanski is currently being held in a Swiss jail on charges of having sex with a minor.
