The hits keep on coming for New York Governor David Paterson. Only one week after he fired one of his top aides who had been accused of domestic abuse, the embattled governor was fined $62,125 for accepting five free Yankees tickets. New York’s Public Integrity Commission said Paterson set the “moral and ethical tone” of the state, and by accepting the tickets, the governor “set a totally inappropriate tone by his dishonest and unethical conduct.” The PIC found that Paterson lied during his testimony for the tickets, where he said he had always planned to pay for the tickets. A top aide disputed that testimony, saying he only came to that decision after a reporter saw him at the game. Paterson faced a maximum fine of $100,000.
