Besides the winners from Ethiopia and Kenya, this Sunday’s New York City Marathon saw some high-profile runners. Chilean miner Edison Pena, nicknamed “the runner” for his routine of running six miles a day while trapped underground, finished in 5:40:51, beating out two Today co-hosts. Meredith Vieira finished in 5:59 and outran her coworker Al Roker by more than an hour—he came in at 7:09. Survivor winner Ethan Zohn finished the 26.2-mile race in 4:16:20, while Bachelorette star Ryan Sutter finished in 3:20:39. Sutter was running to raise funds for his charity, First Descents, while Zohn, a Hodgkin’s Lymphoma survivor, ran for his charity, Grassroot Soccer, which he started with his winnings from Survivor.
