The NYPD slowdown protest against Mayor Bill de Blasio appears to be coming to a close. Gothamist reports that NYPD officers are once again issuing summons for “quality of life” offenses that had largely been unenforced the past two weeks. In fact, New York residents have taken to sharing stories of officers going into overdrive to ticket citizens for the most innocuous violations in a “summons catch-up blitz.” The New York Times reports that arrests almost doubled last week but are still below pre-slowdown levels.
