Shepard Fairey, the man behind the ubiquitous Obama “Hope” poster as well as the popular “Obey” brand, has been arrested in Boston for painting graffiti. But police didn’t catch him in the act—they arrested him for tags they believe are the work of the artist. An outspoken critic of authority, Fairey is said to have been arrested a number of times. On top of his new legal troubles with the Boston Police Department, Fairey is the target of a lawsuit by the Associated Press for using one of its photographs as the model for his Obama poster.
