The first sitting president to sit for a late-night comedy show interview, Barack Obama may well be the last, too. On his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night, Obama finally made a public speaking error—by cracking a joke about the Special Olympics. When Leno asked the president if his bowling game had improved since moving to the White House (which, famously, hosts a bowling alley) Obama joked that bowling is "like the Special Olympics or something." A White House spokesman immediately played damage control: "The president made an off-hand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics. He thinks the Special Olympics is a wonderful program that gives an opportunity for people with disabilities from around the world." The Special Olympics has yet to comment.
