President Barack Obama defended Hillary Clinton on Sunday, arguing that no politics would play a part in the investigation into her email practices while she was at the State Department. “I guarantee that there is no political influence in any investigation conducted by the Justice Department, or the FBI—not just in this case, but in any case,” Obama said in a Fox News interview aired Sunday. Obama acknowledged Clinton’s “carelessness” in managing emails, but added she has recognized her mistake. The president said he was confident that the the Justice Department and FBI are following the rules in the investigation. “I continue to believe that she has not jeopardized America’s national security,” he said.
