The morning after two suspects shot and killed 14 people at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, President Barack Obama addressed the nation from the Oval Office of the White House. "At this stage, we do not yet know why this terrible event occurred," he cautioned, surrounded by his national security advisers and Vice President Joe Biden. "We do not know their motivations... it is possible that this was terrorist related, but we don't know. It's also possible that this was workplace related." He later decried the "prevelance of these acts of mass shootings," and said that "we're going to have to search ourselves as a society to make sure that we can take basic steps that would make it harder, not impossible, but harder for individuals to get access to weapons."
