Hey look, it's bipartisanship! President Obama has issued a statement applauding Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's new support of a ban on earmarks. McConnell announced Monday that he supports the idea, following reports last week that he was trying to sabotage Senators Jim DeMint and Tom Coburn’s efforts to institute a two-year ban. “What I’ve concluded is that on the issue of congressional earmarks, as the leader of my party in the Senate, I have to lead first by example,” McConnell said Monday. Obama said he looked forward to working with Congress "to not only end earmark spending, but to find other ways to bring down our deficits for our children."
