On Monday, the White House called on colleges to respond more effectively and aggressively to sexual assaults on their campuses in a new report released by a task force established last January. Among the guidelines mentioned in the report, the government will establish NotAlone.gov to track information on specific campuses and provide victims with easier ways to report problems with their colleges’ handling of assault. The Obama administration is also expected to ask Congress to pass measures to force colleges to create better anti-assault policies, such as mandatory sexual-assault surveys. According to the task force, one in five college students has been assaulted, but only 12 percent report it.
