Someone’s not convinced: President Obama on Thursday called on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to support a “genuine” transition. In a statement following Mubarak’s unexpected decision not to step down, Obama said the Egyptian people have not yet been guaranteed any immediate, meaningful, or sufficient transfer of power. Mubarak announced Thursday that he would cede some power to Vice President Omar Suleiman, despite the demands from protesters that Mubarak step down completely. Obama has been calling for an orderly transition in Egypt, and he met with his security team in Michigan to discuss the uprising.
