President Barack Obama is scheduled to meet privately with the Dalai Lama at the White House on Wednesday. The visit by the Tibetan Buddhist leader, who is exiled from China, follows a statement by China’s Foreign Ministry urging the U.S. not to show support for any separatist activities or to recognize Tibet as a part of China. A meeting between Obama and the Dalai Lama in 2014 infuriated Chinese leaders in Beijing.
