President Obama’s approval rating is dropping among his base supporters and from the political center, according to a new New York Times / CBS News poll. While Obama can’t be too happy about being so vulnerable just a little over a year before he is up for re-election, the poll had some good news for him: There is general uneasiness about the crop of Republican candidates and a majority of people support his $447 billion jobs initiative. Four months before the first Republican primary, voters are torn between a presidential candidate who can defeat Obama and one who agrees with them on the issues. The poll had a 43 percent approval rating for Obama, falling the lowest among the voters who voted for him, such as women and college graduates.
